Secure Your Home With Locks and Alarm Systems

When the clocks go back, burglars take advantage of the long dark nights. Time to make sure you secure your home with your locks and alarm systems before you go out.

Householders are being warned to beware of a spike in home burglaries as the clocks go back.  Co-operative Insurance said that the number of home and motor insurance claims usually shoots up after British Summer Time ends. Having analysed data since 2013, the insurer has found that home theft claims surge by about 38 per cent in the five months after the clocks go back, compared to claims during the five preceding months.

Give yourself time, it doesn’t take much to check that all your windows and doors are properly locked and to set your alarm (if you have one) before you leave home.

One of the best tips is take time to make sure that you don’t leave any keys in door locks, these are visible to burglars who check for this and can see them through other windows.
